WELCOME! ¡BIENVENIDOS!

Dear Parents:

During this month of February we celebrate the gift of love – the out flowing care and concern for one another. We remember the inspired words of St. Paul when he exclaimed that the greatest gift we have received from God is love. There are many visible actions of God’s love at work in our community. We show this love when we care for one another and all of God’s creation. One of the ways in which we have shown our concern for others is through our Grade 6 students who took the initiative to raise money for those affected by the earthquake in Haiti. With your help they raised over $800.00 to send to Development and Peace who will match our donation and send the money to those in need. Thank you all for your contributions to this worthy cause!

Throughout this month we will be celebrating many special occasions to help us carry through this theme of love: Valentine’s Day, Random Acts of Kindness week, and Family Day. These special times help us to remember to share our gifts with all creation. We are asked to show our love everyday by reaching out, inspiring, giving hope, and sharing God’s love to others.

This month also sees the beginning of the Lenten season with Ash Wednesday on February 17th. During this time of reflection on God’s great gift to us and our renewed efforts to live out the Gospel message each day, we ask that you consider how we can bring God closer to our hearts and those of others. Let us celebrate the love of God through our caring thoughts, kind words, considerate actions, and heartfelt prayers.

Queridos Padres y Apoderados:

Durante el mes de febrero celebramos el don del amor y brindamos el cariño e interés que revelamos a otros. Recordamos las palabras inspiradas de San Paul cuando exclamó que el mejor regalo más grande que hemos recibido de Dios es el amor. Hay muchos actos visibles de las pruebas del amor de Dios en nuestra comunidad. Mostramos el amor de Dios cuando nos cuidamos el uno al otro y cuidamos toda su creación. Una de las maneras que hemos expresado el interés para el bien de otros es a través de nuestros estudiantes en grado 6 que tomaron la iniciativa para recaudar fondos para aquellos afectados por el terremoto en Haití. Con su gran ayuda ellos recaudaron $800.00 para mandar a Desarrollo y Paz, que igualara  nuestra donación y mandara el dinero a aquellos en necesidad. Muchas gracias por sus generosas contribuciones a esta buena causa.
En este mes celebraremos muchas ocasiones especiales a través del tema del amor: El Día de San Valentín, Los actos espontáneos de la Bondad, y El Día de la Familia. Estas ocasiones especiales nos llaman a compartir nuestros dones con toda la creación de Dios. Diariamente se nos pide de tender la mano a otros, inspirar, dar esperanza y compartir el amor de Dios con nuestro prójimo.
En este mes también se da el inicio de la Cuaresma, recordando que miércoles de Ceniza es el 17 de febrero. En esta época, meditamos en el gran amor que nos ha dado Dios y renovamos nuestros esfuerzos para practicar y vivir el Evangelio cada día, buscamos las posibilidades de acercarnos, y acercar a otros también, al corazón de Dios. Celebremos el amor de Dios con pensamientos puros, palabras cariñosas, gestos llenos de amor y oraciones hechas desde el corazón.
